I feel fear.
I don’t mean that I am afraid; it’s more like I am perched on the edge of a canyon with my legs dangling down into the deep abyss of the unknown below. And as my feet swing softly from side to side, I sense the way that things in life can tumble and land with a tremendous thud. I imagine I would await the same fate if I unseated myself, and I feel the urge to permanently glue my butt to the ground.
And then I begin to wonder: What if it is the fear that wants to weigh me down, like some kind of an anxious anchor to territory that is appealing only because it is familiar? What if the fear were prepared to drop into the precipice and leave me to float gently across to the other side? How would I feel, knowing that I can fly?
So maybe the fear isn’t my enemy, it’s a friend who’s prepared to set me free.
Someone I love told me about a phenomenon known as the “Terror Wall,” and it’s reshaped my understanding of how we grow. Terror Walls show up when I make the uncomfortable choice to see something differently, when I fully accept responsibility for my life circumstances because I know it’s the only way I can truly change. It’s a moment of complete emotional contraction, like every cell in my body is screaming “YOU CAN’T DO THIS, YOU CAN’T LEAVE US BEHIND.”
And then it releases. My imagination starts to feel golden bright, and I remember that I really do have the power to create my reality. It’s like waking up in a dream, and I know that I really can just float right across that gorge because I can do anything that I allow myself to do.
Disclaimer: Please only attempt to fly over large crevices in your imagination.
Bonus: Your brain will experience this in exactly the same way as if you did it in waking reality! It counts!
As always, I find comfort, wisdom and connection with this experience in the skies above. This week we will see our resplendent Sun approach cataclysmic Pluto for one last kiss in Capricorn, the final time we’ll witness this configuration in our lifetimes. Pluto first entered Capricorn back in 2008, and it has sent evolutionary earthquakes through our institutional bedrock these past 16 years. We know on a collective level that we can’t rely on the economic models and societal structures we’ve built to bring us forward into whatever comes next, and the need for new rules on the playing field has never felt more palpable.
These sorts of fundamental changes often announce themselves with startling wake-up calls, and you may have gathered that terror often seems to be the name of the game when our favorite icy rock comes to town. And while I won’t sugarcoat the feelings of horror and despair that Pluto can raise within us, I will readily reassure you that this is not the full picture. Fresh ground lies just on the other side of the Terror Wall, and Pluto will take you there if you dare to surrender to the fullness of your power to move beyond.
The Sun represents our individuality, our brilliance, our luminosity, and in Capricorn it provides equal measures of inspiration and aspiration. Pluto intensifies everything it touches, and in Capricorn it will supercharge your sense of the inherent potential you hold for stupendous success - after all, you didn’t come here to kick pebbles into a canyon, you came here to move mountains. By the same token, Pluto will also amplify your awareness of any feelings that you have fallen short of what’s expected. Capricorn is the queen of “compare and despair”, and it can drive us to notice all of the things that we are not.
So my invitation to you is: Let yourself fail by the external metrics of success you’ve accepted. Don’t get the promotion, don’t get the raise, don’t move into the new house, don’t drive the new car. And let that apparent failure wash away any notion that you are less than successful. Let success mean that you are fully present, that you have everything you need, that you love your life.
The Sun and Pluto have a rendezvous in the calendar for next Saturday, and the day before (Friday, January 18) I’ll be speaking about how to work with this energy and rewrite your notions of success at the Happy & Successful Summit. It’s free to join and there will be a replay available after; registration link and full details available below. I also talk more about cosmic patterns of happiness and success in the Weekly Oracle, along with how we can best avail ourselves of all the Capricorn goodness in the sky.
And if you’d like to connect more personally, I’ve just re-opened my calendar with a festive new Three Wishes offering for January to celebrate the energy of the New Year.💖 Book here to join me for a 50-minute date with destiny (suggested price £50).☕️ With the magic of astrology, intuition and coaching, you'll connect with your heart's desire and make three wishes for the year ahead.🪄 You'll find a new appreciation for the way that things are coming together, and you'll also get a clear sense of how to move forward from where you are.👣

From Fear to Aspiration: Deep Change with Pluto

We find ourselves at a once-in-a-lifetime cosmic crossroads. As the well-laid foundations of material success shake, tremble, and collapse around us, our understandable fear for the future leaves us in need of a fundamental reconnection with the spiritual virtues of aspiration and achievement. And so I ask:
What would the world look like if our notions of success encouraged us to find and fulfill our unique life purpose with creativity, joy, and generosity? What would your own life look like?
Register here to come join me and learn how we can bring new ideas of success home to our hearts and planet.

This week we go crazy for Capricorn 🥳 I share spiritual insight from my personal life about what Pluto has in store for us, and we check back in with Mercury and Mars as they come together to deliver honest and authoritative (if blunt) declarations. We also buckle up for the blessings of commitment, discipline and hard work from yesterday’s New Moon.
