Nothing is built to last.
Maybe it’s easy to know this in the abstract - to accept that all good things must come to an end - but it can sure as hell feel horrifying to watch something (or someone) you love collapse to the ground. And it’s deeply confronting to know that no matter how much energy and effort you expend to sustain your Earthly existence as you know it today, your life will inevitably change. Be your house made of straw, sticks or stones, one day it will fall.
There are times when it feels like our whole world is wobbling. Mouths agape, we look around with alarming apprehension as we angrily accept that things simply cannot go on as they are. We decry that everything is BROKEN - our governments are cringingly corrupt, our businesses are shamelessly self-serving, our planet is hopelessly hotting up. I’m positive you know this rhetoric of rotten roots, and it leaves me feeling like we are rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic as the icy waters nip at our heels.
I am so sick of being afraid. I don’t want to feel too panicked to peek at the future; I want to feel powerful enough to welcome whatever comes next. So even as I see how our society appears to be in the midst of a massive meltdown, I ask myself: What if it’s time for something to sink so that another ship can come in? What if it’s safe to let go and trust that life will always get better if we just get out of the way and let it happen?
That sinking feeling will be in the air this week as our chilly lover Pluto comes to a grinding halt in the sign of Capricorn. Pluto knows just how ferocious fear can be, and it also shows us that we are fierce enough to face it. This coming Wednesday marks the second to last time Pluto will “station” - stop in the sky to change direction - in the Zodiac’s most rock solid sign before it moves into Aquarius for keeps. Pluto’s entry into Capricorn back in 2008 ushered in the global credit crunch, and its most recent station heralded the crash of Credit Suisse - so we can certainly expect our usually secure ground to be shaky.
Synchronicity alert: As I wrote the word “shaky” in the sentence above, the sound system at my favorite caffeinated writing spot cheerfully chirped the words “Shake it up, baby!” and invited me to Twist and Shout🕺
One of Pluto’s strongest significations is death. I notice that astrologers often use the language of transformation to describe this experience, and Pluto is indeed an agent of deep change. But I’m not going to mince words here: Pluto is not a cuddly cherub opening its eyes for the first time; it is the grim reaper here to reclaim the wayward parts of our collective soul.
The important thing to remember is that death makes room for life. Death is the way we are reabsorbed into this beautiful Universe we call home; it is a fundamental force that unifies and recreates. You can experience the joy of death by learning to appreciate the unimaginable uniqueness of each moment that passes, perfectly paving the way for what comes next. You can empty your lungs and relax your body with a soulful sigh, knowing that death is nothing to fear. After all, if we never breathe out, how can we breathe in?
I also want to say - just as I know that fear is ultimately a portal to power, I know that learning to love death isn’t always easy. If this speaks to you, I invite you to join me for a Deep Change Circle next Friday, October 13 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm London time. You’ll learn more about the promise of Pluto in Capricorn, connect with your inner power through visualization, and get personal guidance on how this energy is showing up in your life.
The Circle will convene on the eve of a Solar Eclipse in the sign of Libra, when the doors of change fly wide open. I’ll be sharing more about this upcoming eclipse season soon, and you can also consider yourself invited to join me and my good friend / colleague Nadia for a donation-based online Eclipse Movement Magic session on Friday, October 27 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am London / 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sydney. We’ll celebrate the shifting sands of the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus as we release and ground into the soft support of the Earth below our feet, full details (and Free Weekly Forecast) below.
Deep Change Circle with Pluto in Capricorn
Come join me on Friday, October 13 (bone chills already!) to move from Fear to Power with Pluto in Capricorn. And if you’re feeling open to share your birth details, I will celebrate your choice with live personal guidance.
I wonder if - like me - you are starting to feel the usually solid ground below your feet start to liquify, like the very foundations of our society just can't take the weight. From corrupt populist governments and shaky financial markets to unsustainable food cultivation and overzealous environmental exploitation, I cannot shake this deep discomfort that so much of what we have needs to go.
We will all feel the intensity of this build as Pluto grinds to a halt in the skies above us in the stalwart sign of Capricorn and prepares to close out its 15-year journey through that sign. Join me and learn how we can navigate this transition in the best interests of yourself and the planet we call home.
Eclipse Movement Magic: Release to Ground
Friday, October 27: 10:00 am - 11:00 am London / 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sydney
Eclipses don’t f*ck around. They announce big changes in the world around us, and the shifts they wash into our lives can be sudden and intense. Lunar eclipses are especially uncomfortable, like we just can’t seem to feel safe in our homes or comfortable in our bodies. This month’s lunar eclipse comes to us from the sign of Taurus and leaves us even more untethered from the soft security of the Earth beneath our feet.
Change doesn’t have to be bad if we learn to accept it with gratitude. So come join us to let go of your resistance with a cosmically-inspired meditation and plant your feet firmly on the ground with a mandala movement practice.
Register here, and Nadia & I invite you to make a donation to support our dear friend Fiona who is currently facing a return of Ovarian cancer.
Free (for now) Weekly Forecast
I get so much from letting myself talk about the cosmic weather! As much as I can ever prepare, I always feel like I’m just observing what comes out of my mouth in the moment. This week I dared to watch some of the recording after a big gulp just like how this video begins; there is so much value in seeing how you show up through other people’s eyes. Feedback is most welcome 🤗
Love,
Patrick
