I feel confused.
Everywhere I look, I see messages to relentlessly follow my dreams. My heart resonates with the infinite wisdom that anything is possible, and I am consumed by the ever-encouraging fire of my purposeful passion. I know that this feeds my soul, and that anything less than what I truly want simply won’t do.
And yet when it comes to the nuts and bolts of life - my job, not my calling - I see messages to get real. My feet sink into the sense that I will never live my dreams if I don’t fight for them to land on the soil around me. I know that there is work to do, and that I won’t advance in the physical world with my head in the clouds.
It doesn’t seem obvious how these two fit together, and it leaves me with a strange sensation that I need to firmly grasp something that I cannot even touch. As much as I can know on a higher level that my opportunities are endless, I feel like I need to make things happen on the ground or I’ll end up empty-handed. And I find myself wondering: How am I supposed to pursue the joy that feeds my soul if it doesn’t give me the resources I need to feed my body?
So maybe I don’t need to hold fast to my dreams. Maybe I can soften my resolve. Maybe my passion is just a barometer that points the way to the next step, and maybe I’ll find that my dreams change as I make the bold choice to move forward in this inescapably human body.
This week, we all have a chance to hook up our internal combustion engine with vast visionary fuel as Mars in Capricorn finds an auspicious alignment with Neptune in Pisces. Mars tends to our inner fire, and it never hesitates to turn up the heat when it’s time to take action. In Capricorn, Mars covets the creative power to make something tangible. It wants to leave a mark on the world for all to see, and has little interest in imagination without strategic intent.
Neptune, on the other hand, is a fully committed daydream believer. Neptune opens the gates to fantasy, and it loves to remind us that there is always more than meets the naked eye. In Pisces, Neptune sees in blindingly brilliant technicolor. It wants to paint our picture across space and time, and is minimally concerned with the mundane hum of everyday existence.
With these two coming together in a supportive sextile aspect in the sky, it’s no wonder that I’m thinking about how dreams become real. On one hand, Mars in Capricorn understands the value of reality. And if reality is how we experience our world, Mars knows that this is the best place to channel our efforts. On the other hand, Neptune in Pisces understands that reality is fluid. And if reality still exists when we close our eyes, Neptune knows that we can change our experience of the world just by changing how we envision it.
This week’s conversation between Mars and Neptune builds to a crescendo on Thursday, and it invites us to make a conscious connection that unites their energies. So perhaps if we commit to offer our wildest imagination a solid container of loving intention, it is entirely reasonable that we can create something unexpectedly beautiful from nothing. And if you pause to wonder how you ended up here - how our whole wide Universe exists at all - it becomes increasingly clear that this is exactly how life works.
