I feel affirmed.
This past month I have let my heart go wild, I’ve given it full permission to head into the wide open world and see what lights me up (and what doesn’t). It has marveled at the majesty of moon-lit mountain ranges and snuggled up to the serenity of sun-drenched shorelines, reminding me that exploration can offer invigorating ooohs and satisfying aaahs in equal measure. It’s also brought me into bristly briar patches, because perhaps no tale of adventure would be complete without a dose of adversity. After all, how can we know we have full faith in the spirit of expansion if it’s never put to a prickly test?
And now it’s time for me to come back home and see which experiences endure. As much as I can embrace the wonders of the unknown, I know that I also need a lovingly stable foundation to rest my life on. Memories wash away all too easily without a place to land, and there are emotional echoes that I want to keep. So if I think of my heart as a container to hold what is dear, I want it to be rock solid.
Hearts are places where we store our values, where we find validation for being with what keeps us strong. They can also work like wells of relational wisdom, helping us reflect and respect commitments to ourselves and others. And as we affirm what, whom and how we love across space and time, we build traditions that support our hearts through every ache and pain that life presents.
There is no planet that appreciates the beauty of tradition more than Venus in Capricorn. Venus speaks to all of the ways we love ourselves and others, and it also wants us to appreciate the inherent value of loving connection as force that unites and harmonizes. Capricorn is a place of commitment and convention, and it would prefer the steadiness of long-term romantic investments to the thrill of being swept off your feet.
Venus in Capricorn appreciates the daily discipline it takes to give and receive from the heart over the long haul, and it celebrates the ways that we devote ourselves to love. It asks us to consider how we create cultures of mutual and self-respect, and it implores us to nurture the soil on which we build. Venus in Capricorn reminds us that the values we establish in our hearts serve as a foundation for the love we create, and it helps us to anchor these with gravitas.
Venus just left fiery, free-wheeling Sagittarius and will be walking down the Capricorn aisle though February 16. This weekend, Venus will connect in a cooperative trine with jovial Jupiter in Taurus for an especially sweet embrace. Jupiter in Taurus offers a grounded sense of gratitude for all that we have already created, and together with Venus in Capricorn this feels like a chance to shower those you have loved the longest with your finest affection.
If you’re wondering how to work with Capricorn energy, I invite you to tune into a free meditation on Deep Change to mark the Sun’s last meeting with Pluto in Capricorn for the next 200+ years. I offered it as part of my talk at last week’s Happy & Successful Summit, and I was so struck when one of the participants shared that her blood pressure dropped by one-third after listening. Consider it a chance to let go of all the ideas of success that hold you prisoner, to watch the castle of your aspiration collapse into your light.
We talk more about Venus in Capricorn and Pluto changing signs in the Weekly Oracle, and we also check in with yesterday’s Full Moon in Leo and the unfolding spiral of the lunar cycle -

Deep Change Talk / Meditation
We find ourselves at a once-in-a-lifetime cosmic crossroads. As the well-laid foundations of material success shake, tremble and collapse around us, our understandable fear for the future leaves us in need of a fundamental reconnection with the spiritual virtues of aspiration and achievement. And so I ask: What would the world look like if our notions of success encouraged us to find and fulfill our own unique life purpose with creativity, joy and generosity? Would would your own life look like? Tune in and learn how we can bring new ideas of success home to our hearts and planet.
